Parent Expectations
VEMBL Parent, Guardian, Spectator expectations:
- Follow the school policies and rules. It would be unfortunate for our league to lose any of the gyms. If a school has a locked door policy, this means NO ONE can put a rock, cone, shoe or anything in the door to keep it open. Plan ahead and make arrangements for someone to open the door for you.
- No outside food or drinks permitted in the gym. Please eat your meals and/or take out in your vehicle. Water bottles accepted for players and spectators. Please put any trash in the garbage cans available at the gyms.
- No children or adults are permitted to play/run in the school hallways, on the stage or in empty gymnasiums during games or practices. Our permits only allow us to use the gym, change rooms and bathrooms. All other areas are prohibited. Spectators should be sitting in the designated areas, including younger siblings.
- Parents/Guardians/Spectators are not permitted to enter the changing rooms unless necessary with their own child. Public bathrooms are in the hallway outside the gym as needed.
- Parents shall treat all players, coaches, officials and other spectators with courtesy and respect. VEMBL has a ZERO tolerance policy regarding any verbal abuse of the referees, scorekeepers and coaches.
- Should a parent/guardian have a question or concern, they can address it with their child’s coach or send an email to VEMBLhoops@gmail.com
- Parents are responsible to advise their guests about all the rules.
As a parent/guardian representing the Valley East Minor Basketball League and local community, I will honour these commitments.
